The University of California Botanical Garden. (UCBG) features one of the most diverse plant collections in the United States. Established in 1890, the Garden's 34 acres contain over 13,238 taxas and more than 20,231accessions from all over the world arranged by region. The Garden is famous for its large number of rare and endangered species. The Mission Statement for the UCBG is 'to develop and maintain a diverse living collection of plants to support teaching and worldwide research in plant biology, further the conservation of plant diversity, and promote public understanding and appreciation of plants and the natural environment.' The Rental Coordinator manages all aspects of the Garden's rental income program. This involves activities associated with reaching, serving, and engaging external constituencies. Constituencies include alumni, local community, government, parents, as well as the general public.
With minimal supervision, coordinate and perform maintenance and constriction tasks on buildings, equipment, vehicles and grounds at UC Botanical Garden. Manage inventorial needs of the unit and provide key control administration.
Safety is the number one priority. Operate and perform in a safe and efficient manner. Building and infrastructure maintenance, from plans or directions, prepare and install materials to specifications through use of hand and power tools.
Service & maintain equipment and tools.
Assist on an as-needed basis on special projects as assigned.
Completion of paperwork, timesheets, procurement card and other forms and documents as directed in a timely, neat and efficient manner.
Grounds: Assist horticulturist with wooden stairs, railings, benches, and decks.
Other duties as required.
Understanding of and ability to apply basic construction principles.
Operate assorted construction related power and hand tools.
Ability lo cut, use and install materials and equipment with minimal waste.
Understanding of safety procedures as they relate to facilities maintenance and management, including but not limited to safe tool and equipment use, constructional techniques, and public safety in relation to grounds and buildings.
Ability to work with other campus department to secure services for the unit.
Four years of experience in the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to understand architectural plans and/or direction and tum into practical application.
Prior supervisory experience
