Required Education * Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, or technical equivalent * SBE Broadcast Certification desired or working towards certification.
Required Experience * 3-5 years broadcast engineering experience. * 5-7 years of live-event production and/or broadcast and technical direction with experience across all major technical disciplines: video, lighting, graphics, audio etc.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions * Provide technical direction, assistance, and multimedia integration support to university productions * Works closely with Director of IMT Media on production policies and procedures for IMT Media Services production control rooms, sound stage and portable equipment. * Designs, manages, installs, and maintains production hardware, software and equipment in IMT Media Services production control rooms, sound stages, production venues, and portable installations. * Ensures proper alignment, timing, and settings of systems in accordance with manufacturer and industry standard specifications. * Coordinates web streaming architecture and archival process of audio and video productions including, but not limited to live.apu.edu * Establish and maintain technical standards, policies, and procedures to ensure media systems are scalable, reliable and maintainable, while also working with other groups within the IMT organization as required * Ensure that all audio, video, lighting, communication, etc. systems meet and maintain consistency in design and operation and are integrated in a way that maximizes efficiency, flexibility, and reliability to meet the needs of the University today and into the future. * Manages hardware and software inventory of equipment, acquisitions, installations and repairs. * Creates and maintains systems documentation and schematics detailing the setup and configuration of the broadcast systems implemented in IMT Media Services. * Responsible for installing and maintaining Media Services hardware and software systems not supported by the IMT device solutions. * Maintains equipment service records, logs, and reports as required by FCC, Legal Contracts, and service level agreements. * Supports emergency backup and recovery functions to ensure reliability and maintainability. * Provides necessary support and training to IMT Media Services staff concerning the use of production equipment and facilities. * Contributes to basic maintenance and configuration of production equipment for University productions as directed by Management. * Contributes to overall direction and strategies for IMT Media Services. * Understanding of and ability to operate video/audio/graphics/lighting equipment for live productions as directed by production leadership and/or supervisor, when student staff is not available. * Stays current, investigates, and tests new technologies that can benefit APU by providing operational cost savings, increased efficiency, enhanced services, etc…. * Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor. * Ability to work evenings and weekends. * Regular, punctual attendance is required. * Partner in the design technical requirements for the University, including sound system installations, distributions, and usage. * Contributes to overall direction and strategies for IMT Media Services. * Participates in the overall internal planning sessions to ensure creative and appropriate events. * Works with other staff members for the basic maintenance and configuration of production equipment for University productions as directed by Management.
Skills The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior work experience, or on-the-job training: * Knowledge of facility engineering and building construction, primarily relating to electrical distribution systems and communication infrastructure. * Must have ability to effectively relate professionally and communicate to all levels of the University faculty/staff, administration and students. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * High attention to detail and organization. * Ability to analyze and resolve problems. * Possess a user-centered attitude and an ability to work in a team-oriented environment. * Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. * Ability to plan/develop, install, and design broadcast systems. * Excellent knowledge of signal processing, transport and transmission equipment. * Excellent knowledge of digital audio, video standards, and equipment. * Knowledge of video and audio codecs, frame/sample rates, and formats. * Strong knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and fiber infrastructure. * Must be a team leader. * Must be able to meet project completion dates. * Ability to integrate media content and quality with biblical knowledge and the University’s Christian mission. * Knowledge of computing preferred, especially DSP programming (i.e. Sound web), MediorNet, Dante, Virtual patching, and computer based measurement programs. (i.e. Smart etc..) * Knowledge of sound and audio/visual equipment. Key elements are system design, and signal flow. * Must have a service-oriented mind-set with the ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks while transferring knowledge and expertise to empower clients and users. * Working knowledge of rigging and structural support. * This person must have a high level of independence, show initiative, and have the ability to be highly motivated. This must be done in a manner that is consistent with the team management structure that is employed by the group. * This person must recognize that much of the work is completed without direct supervision. This requires great prioritization and judgment, and an accuracy and integrity of work that will represent the mission and values of the IMT group. * This person will supervise student staff and other engineering staff as needed. Examples of supervision include, but are not limited to; scheduling, overseeing load-ins and strikes, coaching and directing, managing interns, and supervising engineering projects. * This position requires someone who is totally committed to excellence in customer service (supporting the WIN Statement), and who has a good understanding of Azusa Pacific University’s overall business, and business practices. * This person will be required to support and uphold the IMT Strategic Directions. * This person will enable the Azusa Pacific University media systems to operate normally at all times, this person is required to be available by telephone for management, consultation and liaison with support, after normal working hours and on weekends. This may require considerable onsite presence to manage emergency situations.

Physical Demands * Repetitive hand motions at computer keyboard. * Sitting and/or standing 5-6 hours per day. * Climbing on truss, stairs, and catwalk. * Listening and speaking on the telephone. * Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus. * Able to reach, grasp, pull, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Visual Demands * Ability to read and work for extended amounts of time on computer and video monitors.
Environment * Pleasant and comfortable office. * Several machine rooms, control rooms, studios, and production venues across various parts of the Azusa Campus(s), indoors, and outdoors.
Technologies * Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
