The UCI Counseling Center has a long history of providing psychological services to the UCI campus community. UCI is a multi-culturally rich environment and the Center prides itself on a staff that is competent and diverse. The Counseling Center provides time-limited treatment, assessment, outreach, and crisis intervention to the campus community. The Center is a part of the Division of Student Affairs and has an APA-accredited psychology internship program. The UCI Counseling Center Case Manager works collaboratively with the Counseling Center staff, various UCI academic and student affairs offices, and off-campus resources to coordinate the care of clients with complex biopsychosocial needs. The Case Manager provides direct client care service including initial assessment, follow up care, case management, linkage to services, counseling and crisis intervention. The emphasis of this position is on case management services to students as a clinical social worker. Conduct case management visits and provide consultation to clinical staff. Additionally, conduct initial assessments, urgent care services; crisis response; and outreach in a university counseling center. Provide training within an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited psychology doctoral internship. Participate in meetings and Center research and evaluation.
Advanced degree from an accredited institution in Social Work.
Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (or license-eligible in California). License issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in another US state or territory, or equivalent jurisdiction, if not in possession of a current CA license by start date. Maintain current and unrestricted California social work license (Provide documentation to Counseling Center).
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Skilled in effectively conveying information to individuals at various organizational levels. Ability to compose clear, grammatically correct, well-constructed correspondence, reports, and informational materials. Skilled in coordinating, directing, evaluating, and implementing case management services for individuals with multiple psychological problems. Ability to work with a broad variety of difficult cases and display effective knowledge of the social work profession. Knowledge of Federal and California laws governing the practice of social work and privacy practices in post-secondary educational institutions Documentation or attestation of the provision of social work services for at least ten (10) outpatients or inpatients during the past three (3) years required for initial hire. Must be able to demonstrate respect and integrate cultural sensitivity when providing services. Experience with electronic medical record keeping and documentation. Demonstrated skills in crisis management under conditions of limited supervision, high demands, and rapidly changing circumstances as well as developing and maintaining effective interaction with clients, university community, and outside agencies. Ability to collaborate with the campus community consisting of faculty, staff, and students. Fulfill or exceed continuing professional education requirements to maintain licensure and stay current with the field of social work. Experience and interest in working with university students from multicultural backgrounds.
Five post-licensure years of clinical practice.
Consultation and outreach experience, program development and evaluation including training faculty, staff and students. Training and experience in time limited psychotherapy, crisis response, substance/alcohol problems. Knowledge of available resources of the broader Orange County and Southern California area that can assist our students and campus population in meeting their psychosocial needs. Interest in the application and integration of social justice in counseling center work. Experience in a large university counseling center.
