University of California, Los Angeles
Job Description:
The Systems Imaging and Modeling Lab (SIML) at UCLA is seeking motivated, exceptional Project Scientist with an established experimental background in genomic and genetic modification techniques as well as proficiency in bioinformatics and high-throughput biological data processing with an interest in analysis and modification of primary human cell culture (malignant and normal tissue). Current projects involve the analysis of in vitro and in vivo data omic data (with corresponding cellular and clinical phenotypic measurements) aimed at understanding the metabolic response of solid tumors to different drug treatments. The ideal candidate will have experience in experimental models mammalian cellular systems with an interest in developing bioinformatic approaches for rational cellular engineering strategies for novel treatment approaches for malignancies and degenerative diseases.
Specific Responsibilities:
About UCLA SIML:
Research in the SIML focuses on striving to understand how complex measurements across multiple spatial scales with disparate data measurements of organs, tissues, and cells are related to one another. We construct mathematical models and carry out various computational analyses for simulation and analysis of biological processes in order to 1) characterize cellular metabolic phenotypes and 2) understand how they relate to clinical imaging, pathological, & laboratory data, in order to improve the characterization of these malignancies to enable non-invasive and minimally invasive measurements for prognostic and disease management applications. We employ state of the art measurement and modeling approaches to build predictive models of biological systems, to be used to develop new strategies for subsequent application in diagnosis and treatment.
