Position Summary
The Radiology Assistant performs specific duties within their scope to support the Breast Center Service Line. Specifically, these duties will include aid in the delivery of the Breast Center Services such as screening, diagnostic, and interventional breast care services. This incumbent will be responsible for the transportation of patients, setting patients up in exam rooms, ensuring patients are appropriately gowned, and prepped for their specific exam. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing the exam rooms for upcoming patents throughout the day. Lastly, this position will be required to provide assistance as needed to the radiologist and technologist at all Breast Center Service Line locations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Prepares examination rooms in accordance with the applicable procedure that is assigned to the incoming patient in a timely and efficient manner in order to support the patient flow within the breast center.
- Transports patients as needed and assists patients with ambulatory movements in order to support the flow of patient care within the Breast Center.
- Ensures that all patients are appropriately gowned in preparation for their procedures and educates patients on next steps of procedure to ensure streamlined delivery of patient care.
- Obtains accurate patient information to be documented in the medical record and assists with the data entry into PACS and Breast Center Scheduling systems.
- Provides support and education as appropriate and within scope to patients to inform and direct patient care.
- Assists with drawing up medications for procedures such as lidocaine, lidocaine with epinephrine, and contracts for ductograms to support the smooth delivery of patient.
- Performs various clerical duties such as report distribution and other duties to support the Breast Center service line.
- Assist Breast Center staff in ensuring all necessary supplies are available and stocked.
- Coordinates communication between Radiologists, Breast Center staff and other departments to support patient care.
