Position Summary:
The Director of Planning, Design, and Construction, oversees and is responsible for the seamless integration of all facets of design and construction, including Parking Services. Responsible for development and implementation of environmental and land use planning policies and programs at all Health System locations. Responsible for the successful planning, management and execution of capital design and construction projects, including long-range planning and capital planning. Is the Chief Building Official and is the UCOP required Designated Campus Building Official for all UCI Health owned/leased/occupied buildings. Responsible for plan review, plan approval, issuance of building permits, construction inspection, certification and approval of all construction projects. Ultimately responsible for all space planning and space governance (via Space Committee), and linkage to UCI Real Estate Services for all leased properties.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications:
Ability to effectively oversee contractors and manage to project timelines
Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to senior leadership
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Financial management and analysis skills consistent with budgetary responsibilities
Ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage change
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to plan strategically
Ability to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts and policies
Ability to persuade or influence people to take appropriate action
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must be experienced and knowledgeable with all relevant laws/regulations/codes
Minimum 8 to 10 years of similar project management experience as a professional
Degree in Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent experience in managing capital improvement projects in a healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineering
Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements in a hospital setting
Certified Building Official
