Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Planning and Administration in the School of Social Ecology, the Director of Facilities and Space Planning is responsible for managing a broad spectrum of facilities related functions. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional and implements and coordinates building management procedures and space planning activities. Develops space allocation projects, builds schedules and budgets for management review, and implements and makes recommendations for new and revised procedures. Represents Social Ecology with campus offices including Environmental Health and Safety, Purchasing, Design and Construction, Capital Planning, Budget, and Facilities Management, as well as coordinates with outside contractors, architects and other vendors, as needed. Receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on new assignments. The incumbent works in conjunction with staff and faculty colleagues to manage approximately 66,000 square feet of office, classroom, and research space.
Compensation Range:
$4,933.33 - $8,333.33

Required:
3-5 years of progressive experience in design and construction, space planning, and major equipment installation, at major research/education institutions.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Thorough interpersonal skills including good service orientation and effective problem solving. Thorough and effective skills to multi-task and prioritize daily activities effectively. Experience in developing and monitoring a Facilities operating and maintenance budget.
Preferred:
Thorough knowledge in the areas of building space planning, codes, capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Knowledge of architectural or engineering concepts. Knowledge of inventory and accounting procedures.
Special Conditions Required:
Must be able to work early mornings or evenings, if needed.
