We're building our project team in San Francisco, seeking an Associate - Structural Engineer (or Senior Associate)
Our work covers most commercial building types, including office, retail, industrial, hotel/hospitality, and multi-family; focus on industrial and commercial (office, high rise multifamily) structure. A Structural Associate is a registered Professional Engineer and is responsible for understanding all aspects of a project relative to its scope, technical accuracy, potential risk, and client requirements.
Essential Functions
• Review and analyze contract documents including calculations, drawings, and specifications, for new-build construction projects • Perform seismic risk assessments of new-build construction projects • Perform property condition assessments and seismic risk evaluation of existing structures • Understand the root cause of issues observed at existing building construction and prepare repair documents, and appropriate details, needed to address conditions • Collaborate with the client, internal team, consultants, and site contact, and is responsible for an overall understanding of their project • Prepare formal reports • Act as technical team member and small project lead • Travel to client sites as needed

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering required • Minimum 7 years' industry related experience at a structural engineering design or consulting company • Registered as a Professional Engineer • Technical level of understanding of building types, building codes, and seismic lateral force-resisting systems in order to perform services of the organization with limited supervision • Understanding of hazardous building types/features and site seismic hazards • Experience with seismic evaluations according to ASCE 41-13 a plus • Experience in design of structural repairs and overseeing retrofits. Experience in seismic retrofit design a plus • Good understanding of Construction processes and activities • Good understanding of building materials and methods • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Strong organizational skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity •Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel • Proficient in AutoCAD; Bluebeam, Revit, and BOX. Experience with PlanGrid a plus
