Your Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategy Design, on the Strategy, Planning, and Operations team, the Principal is responsible for providing thought leadership to business leaders across Health Solutions to address ambiguous problems and opportunities through internal strategy design engagements. This role will serve as a change agent, leveraging a consistent and disciplined approach to the design of dynamic yet enduring strategies.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Lead and facilitate complex multi-disciplinary strategy design sessions with internal / external stakeholders; inspire a holistic, repeatable approach to designing strategy
- Lead/organize/support interviews, workshops or focus groups to better understand what stakeholders want and expect; coordinate the customer enablement process from discovery through ideation
- Uncover and translate consumer, technology, innovation ecosystems and business insights into actionable end-to-end product strategies and experience strategies
- Develop compelling value propositions, key user scenarios, and frameworks to communicate strategic directions
- Provide a strategic lens within projects that includes consideration of the product/service portfolio, long-term roadmap, and user, tech and business cases; advocate for insight-driven approaches to design; share knowledge and best practices with teams across the enterprise
- Build consensus with teams inside and outside of Health Solutions by leveraging your expertise in communication and storytelling
- Leverage market, external, and industry insights to identify opportunities, make strategic recommendations, and inform strategy development
- Collaborate with other business partners to constantly find new ways to develop and align scalable and sustainable product/service strategies
- Collaborate with enterprise strategy team to ensure strategic direction of projects/programs within Health Solutions aligns with enterprise-wide objectives & key results
- Lead teams through strategic changes and obtain positive results while driving business improvements. Develop highly professional content-driven assets like decks, documents, spreadsheets, etc. to communicate & support findings
- Partner with and provide strategic advice and support to leadership on matters relating to Health Solutions strategic goals, initiatives and structure
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
- Strategic Thinking: well-honed strategic and analytic mindset, experience in synthesizing and translating complex strategic concepts
- Experience with strategy design, including the ability to design processes for soliciting and synthesizing stakeholder feedback, ideas, insights and research
- Core consulting skills: knowledge of management consulting and client management, including meeting and workshop development and management, presentation production, inductive/deductive reasoning, client interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, change management
- Interpersonal skills: ability to construct and deliver inspiring and convincing arguments verbally and in writing; ability to build positive relationships with key internal and external partner representatives and team members
- Ability to influence: uses logic and empathy to connect with others to advance strategic ideas and creatively generate support and alignment
- Experience in facilitating both face-to-face and virtual learning, planning and working sessions
- Ability to work collaboratively to identify innovative solutions and strategies in support of the organization’s mission
- Excellent presentation and writing skills that encompass clear, compelling communications with the ability to convey complex information in a manner that others can understand at all levels of an organization
- Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes
- Position requires flexibility to work remotely with travel to various Blue Shield of CA or partner locations as needed with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and handle interruptions to on-going work activities
