Inspired by this centuries old tradition of Catholic higher education, the University welcomes people of all faith traditions and any, or no, religious background. The future success of USD relies on the contributions of those who seek to foster the development of engaged global citizens and an earnest confrontation of humanitys urgent challenges.
Detailed Description:
The University of San Diego invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Director, Black Student Resource Commons. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Life, the Director serves as a model of Black excellence at the University of San Diego. This position is a principal advisor to the USD community on the experience of Black undergraduate and graduate students. Central to the work of the entire Student Affairs Division is a focus on the quality of the student learning experience as embodied in the Thriving Student Model, which seeks to facilitate a holistic leading edge co-curricular experience grounded in inclusion, diversity and equity.
In support of this focus, the Director works closely with the Assistant Vice President for Student Life, peers within 'The Commons,' faculty members and other colleagues within the Division as well as across campus in implementing institutional and divisional goals, programs, and learning outcomes that reflect an integrated approach to student learning and help create a seamless learning environment where Black students can thrive and experience a sense of belonging.
The Commons is a collective of identity spaces that includes the Black Student Resource Commons, LGBTQ+ & Allies Commons, United Front Multicultural Commons, and Women's Commons.
