POSITION DESCRIPTION
A full-time postdoctoral research position is available in Professor Beth Nowadnick’s computational materials physics group at University of California, Merced. This position will focus on frustrated magnetism in complex oxides, and will explore connections between the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of these materials. The project is part of a collaboration with several experimental and theoretical research groups across the US, and the postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work closely with these collaborators. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to perform and analyze materials simulations, actively participate in regular meetings with collaborators, prepare manuscripts and presentations, present his/her work at conferences, and assist with mentoring students in the group. QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field. Experience with density functional theory calculations and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Experience with theoretical and/or computational approaches for treating correlated solids is desirable. Demonstrated interest in collaborating with experimentalists is strongly preferred.
