Direct reports to the VP and CIO Health include:
- Chief Medical Informatics Officer
- Chief Nursing Informatics Officer
- VP of Operations for Health IT Services (transformation program, departmental IT consolidation program, Health IT PMO, Health IT Budget, Health IT Governance Operations)
- Health System Applications Leader(s) with structure to be defined by CIO Health
- Others as CIO Health defines

- VP IT Infrastructure
- VP Center for Digital Health Innovation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and drive the overall technology strategy and vision for the health system in alignment with the broader UCSF goals.
- Creation and execution of a five-year technology roadmap for UCSF Health including the investment plan to realize that roadmap in alignment with UCSF Health strategy.
- Recruit, develop, and manage world-class technology, informatics, and engineering talent and foster an empowered, innovative, and psychologically safe team culture.
- Establish UCSF Health as a national leader in the use of data, analytics, and advanced informatics in the delivery of complex care throughout the UCSF care delivery platform.
- Establish and operate comprehensive IT governance / decision-making and collaborative operating model that promotes productive relationships with Health System operations.
- Establish processes and technology platforms that enable and empower the rapid expansion of UCSF Health's care delivery platform and business growth ambitions through economies of scale.
- Lead all aspects of complex application/platform development and management across all clinical and non-clinical domains, functions, business units as well as external health system affiliates.
- Own the application and platform engineering road map and ensure its implementation throughout the development life cycle.
- Drive adoption and enhancement of UCSF Health's standards for agile software development and maintenance, in collaboration with other technology teams and leaders.
- Partner with other technology leaders in resource estimation and orchestrate deployment of optimal engineering talent and other resources to projects.
- Create and pursue process and efficiency improvement opportunities through data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.
- Ensure high performance, availability, and efficiency of all healthcare related production IT environments.

- A modern, technologically advanced experience for our caregivers and patients.
The incumbent is a strategic business partner to the senior clinical, business, and operational leaders of UCSF Health, and with the research, teaching, and patient care missions of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry as they relate to care delivery. This role represents the UCSF health system in systemwide, national, and international meetings and other forums. The VP and CIO of Health makes final decisions for the organization and ensures achievement of objectives. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of the health system.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
