Position Summary:

Uses skills as a seasoned, advanced engineering professional to operate independently in a professional specialized engineering phase of major construction projects, performs design engineering work for projects of limited scope, and / or improves design of physical plant engineering systems. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Reporting to the Director of Energy, Engineering, and Inspection, collaborate with Project Management Team and Engineering Group in delivering alteration, renovation, deferred maintenance, and regulatory compliance projects at all stages from development to final close out. Serve as the program manager of the Strategic Energy Program. Interface with the Investor-Owned Utilities as needed, prepare budgets, incentive paperwork, track expenses, and incentives throughout the life of the project. Report on energy savings throughout the organization. Serve as the backup Energy Manager for the campus. Interface with Utility companies as needed to deliver projects, start, stop, or restore service in the event of an outage or disaster. Monitor use and cost of the utilities purchased by the campus and the recharge for those utilities to units not eligible for state operation and maintenance funding.

Ten or more years of engineering experience including demonstrated experience conducting field investigations. More than 10 years of experience as a team contributor to an engineering firm or facility management group with a complex building stock.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Professional engineering license required.
Certificates covering specialty areas under their discipline.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and influence others. Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Advanced problem-solving abilities to apply principles, practices and procedures within discipline to resolve complex issues. Advanced interpersonal and presentation skills. Advanced knowledge associated with the planning, design, and construction of engineering systems. Specifically, an expert in one of the following fields mechanical, electrical, plumbing Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner; readily assess complex challenges and barriers and recommend effective resolutions.
Preferred:
Advanced problem-solving abilities to apply principles, practices and procedures within discipline to resolve complex issues. Advanced project management skills needed to assume responsibility for both high quality and timely accomplishment of design and construction projects.
Special Conditions Required:
Must possess and maintain Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical California Professional Engineer License. Must possess and maintain valid California driver's license and participate in pull notice program. Position is subject to background check. Must comply with UC vaccine policy
