Position Description:
The Assistant Director of Maintenance and Alternations will report to the Director of Maintenance and Alternations (M&A) and is responsible for the routine, planned and deferred maintenance projects of campus building systems (e.g. Carpentry, Mason, Roofing, Paint, Flooring, Signs, Sheet Metal, Swing Shift XC Crew and Hardware Shops), emergency and trouble call response; and M&A managed construction projects. In addition, the Assistant Director will oversee UPJO projects and bid contracts, involving the construction, repair and or alterations managed by the M&A Project Management team., The Assistant Director will provide support to Design and Project Management, Energy & Utilities Services, Transportation and Capital Programs, On-Campus projects Medical Enterprises and UCLA off-site locations are requested. The Assistant Director of Maintenance and Alterations has responsibility for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling a unionized workforce or approximately 140 to160 employees in two bargaining units. Provide guidance to to Sr. Educational Facility Planners (Sr. Superintendents) with corrective actions, sexual harassment issues, dismissal and other complaints. Supports the Director of M&A on a variety of joint labor-management issues and committees.
