DESCRIPTION
The Senior Director, Facilities and Capital Management is responsible for the Facilities Division, including Facilities Engineering and Maintenance, Energy Management, Construction Projects Department (projects under $1-2M supplemented with in-house trade staff), Capital Management and coordination with internal and outside agencies for capital reporting including coordination on various projects and programs.
The Senior Director leads the Facilities Program Management Office, coordinates Asset Management Functions as well as Facilities Project Management reporting across the enterprise. Coordinates Program Management functions established across the enterprise consisting of Infrastructure, Aesthetics, Capital Equipment and Facilities Cycle Maintenance, and works to offer continual improvement to these functions to align with the growth of the health system.
Aligns reporting platforms to maintain transparency and appropriate information flow for all facilities related projects, ensuring consistency from work intake to completion.
The Senior Director ensures regular, appropriate Facilities Condition Assessments are completed and that the information is utilized effectively to shape capital planning, corporate decisions and staffing models to maintain the best use of resources in keeping the health system operational.
Tracks, aligns and maintains the capital program cycle, including capital budget analysis, spending forecasts for construction and related projects/programs, project prioritization, report outs to the combined teams, executive leadership, Finance and various project partners.
This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer Facilities, Capital Management, Retail, Hospitality, Hospital and Offsite Services. Incumbent provides leadership, direction and expertise to department(s) for achievement of objectives (operational and budget processes, staff FTE, finance, human resources, capital management program, construction/contract management and space planning). Oversees the activities of facilities operations management through subordinate managers, having overall responsibility for functional programs. Advises senior leadership on sensitive and/or controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other senior level managers. Leads a team of managers in a large department or that is distributed across multiple departments, requiring coordination of efforts. Instills strong management practices among subordinate managers and also creates an inclusive work environment while promoting a strong culture of internal customer service within the healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
· Provides oversight in the assessment and strategic planning of all assigned areas, and visionary leadership for shaping mid to long term projections while soliciting ideas from staff and university stakeholders.
· Provides oversight of a broad array of construction, renovation and capital improvement projects, and monitors those projects for compliance, costs and quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
· Leads capital program management and reporting in the health system to include Cycle Maintenance, Furniture and Aesthetics, Equipment and Infrastructure.
· Provides leadership for internal minor capital construction program department. Provides guidelines for reporting and tracking large capital construction programs, including sustainable processes for predictive multi-year financial outlooks.
· Serves as a major resource and property management expert.
· Provides oversight of multiple-trade, custodial and maintenance services provided by organization staff, outside contractors and vendors.
· Mentors staff in the areas of professional development, management and performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Architecture, Engineering, Construction Project Management, or related field) and eight or more years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Progressive facilities and/or capital management experience within a large, complex health system.
- Progressive leadership experience and demonstrated ability to hire, manage, coach and mentor direct reports.
- Experience and proven success in organization, system-wide and governmental policies and procedures and any related applicable laws and regulations.
- Strong technical knowledge as well as significant leadership characteristics. (Able to effectively connect with subordinates, peers and upper leadership).
