- Lead the vision and strategy to continue to make the entire housing portfolio more affordable to UCSF affiliates at its geographically dispersed campus locations.
- Oversee housing operations through the management of multiple unit directors that function to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of its residents:
- Finance and Business Systems - comprised of budget oversight, finance and forecasting, resident information management and billing system, and data analysis and reporting;
- Housing Administration - includes the services and associated policies governing applications and assignments, occupancy management, customer service, communications, and resident programs;
- Housing Facilities - comprised of facilities operations, projects, renewals, and new construction.
- People and Projects Development - includes centralized human resources and people development, process improvement projects, and new program development;
- Work closely with key partners including Facilities Services, Real Estate, Campus Planning, Budget and Resource Management, Campus Design and Construction and Building Services, Risk Management, Legal Services, Environmental Health and Safety and other Campus Life Services units to serve the program.
- Oversee multiple partnership agreements including meeting housing commitments outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding with the City and County of San Francisco to:
- Meet milestones toward adding 1263 net new housing units by 2050 (doubling UCSF's housing inventory)
- Establish the first University of California Affordable Housing Program with 40 percent housing units being offered to UCSF staff and trainee households based on San Francisco's Area Median Income (AMI) standards.
- Explore a variety of non-traditional housing funding methods (including state programs and philanthropy) and delivery methods (including public private partnership (P3) owned and / or operated, master lease, and joint venture occupancy agreements).
- Advance diversity, equity and inclusion and exemplify UCSF PRIDE values to guide a collaborative and supportive culture within the workplace and residential communities.
- Lead the Housing Advisory Committee, a housing policy and service advisory group representing all eligible housing affiliates the academic schools, and major stakeholders.
- Provide best-in-class housing options across a diverse population and be a role model for other UC campuses and educational and medical institutions.
This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Campus Life Services and serves as a member of the executive team.

- Proven success developing effective partnerships and demonstrating political acumen
- Skilled at finding solutions to conflicting priorities
- Expert understanding of housing planning and the interdependencies of new construction, facilities management, and facility renewal
- Deep knowledge of affordable housing policies and delivery models
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, financial and capital planning, and fiscal reporting
- Effective communicator with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong people management and ability to build a highly effective team

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
