The Analyst of Clinical Operations Business Intelligence (COBI) facilitates knowledge management efforts to redesign care processes to optimize value (improve outcomes, patient satisfaction and reduce cost), with special focus on the development of analytics dashboards that provide a single source of truth for reliable, meaningful and actionable insights. The Analyst facilitates the assessment and diagnostic of problems, architect's data analytics, develops performance dashboards, and manages structured improvement initiatives, from transformational projects, to focused analytics development improvement events. The Analyst also acts as a coach for his/her team and for any colleagues they interact with to help them establish mechanisms to sustain performance after the completion of projects. The Analyst establishes collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, other clinicians and administrators to build support for change and sustainability efforts. They work with clinical and administrative groups to gather business requirements, understand process flow and design the analytics tools they need to make data-driven decisions to improve patient care, drive down cost, and increase revenue. The Analyst supports the development of management mechanisms and systems to build the knowledge management capacity of the medical enterprise. The Analysts provides data support to the USC health system to foster its continued growth, increased efficiency, development of workflows in conjunction with physicians and establishes strategic relationships with referring facilities. These efforts will improve the transitions of care resulting in safer, more efficient care with better patient and family experience, reduced length of stay and readmissions. The scope of activities for the Analyst include: creating collaborative customer relationships, implementing agile design while developing business solutions with clinical stakeholders, building complex analytical models (e.g., predictive models using machine learning techniques, automating multi-source data capture and analysis, supporting performance improvement and operations projects in the organization, , providing actionable insights, and employing the judgment necessary to determine the accuracy and applicability of analytical conclusions.
Essential Duties:â¢Design and develop knowledge on management tools based on business and clinical requirements to improve value aligning with organizational goals and objectives Develop solutions that embed and extract relevant patient information into and from health information systems, in order to provide effective communication that will support quality, process improvement, and operations initiatives as they relate to clinical care, program development, and trainingâ¢Applies engineering and data science principles and concepts in planning, coordinating and executing operational and research activities Provides data science expertise to support data-driven decision making Performs analysis to produce meaningful insights and actionable analysis to track clinical operations performance at all levels in the organization leveraging evidence-based benchmarking identified by key performance indicators. Socializes tools and initiatives across the health system. Provide cost modeling, capacity planning and other services related to daily operations and clinical program growth Updates and maintains various hospital reports and/or presentations by coordinating collection of information and data, as well as production of reports.â¢Develops collaborative relationships with physicians, administrative leaders and frontline staff to aid in their understanding of data and plan improvements to clinical operations.â¢Performs duties including some or all of the following: ⦠Plans projects/tasks by creating detailed work plans with identified timelines/milestones and objectives/targets, aligning with allocated resources and organizational strategy ⦠Implements planned projects in consultation with appropriate leadership and identified stakeholders, ensuring all work is properly maintained and kept confidential when applicable ⦠Controls project by maintaining alignment with organizational policies/procedures and regulatory compliance standards ⦠Analyze and manage risks and issues associated with technical operations on all programs and medical technology project implementations. ⦠Recommend and/or implement methods and techniques to address a variety of engineering, management, and regulatory requirements on the use of medical data. ⦠Evaluates project by ensuring deliverables are on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality by tracking established process and outcome measure to targets ⦠Conducts assessments and collects data to support department initiatives. Audits compliance to new policy, protocols and practices. ⦠Develops return on investment (ROI) formulas and calculations to measure project impact. ⦠Attends promptly to the administrative details of the position including preparation of Performance Reportsâ¢Performs data collection and/or entry processes. Recommends and/or utilizes methods and procedures for data acquisition, management and quality control, as needed. Recommends and/or utilizes statistical techniques for data analysis, as needed. Resolves problems, answers questions and provides information to facilitate process. Uses standard statistical analysis software, as neededâ¢Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.Minimum Education:â¢High school or equivalentMinimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Req Bachelor's degree Degree in engineering, computer engineering, or data scienceâ¢Pref Master's degree Degree (Health Administration, Nursing, Industrial Engineering, Analytics)â¢Req 1 year Minimum 1-2 years of experience in business/ data analytics, healthcare analytics, healthcare quality, clinical and operations decision support or related field.â¢Pref 3 years 3 yearsâ preferredâ¢Req Working knowledge of back-end databases (e.g., relational designs) spreadsheets, word processing, statistical software, analytical models, data science principles and application, and data visualization programs (e.g., Tableau, Qlikview, Qliksense, Power BI).â¢Req Knowledge of business (operational, clinical and financial) statistics and data analyses techniques.â¢Req Expert knowledge in Python, R, and/or SQL software programmingâ¢Req Ability to manage, analyze, and derive clinical and operational insights from health system information technologies.â¢Req Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.â¢Req Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including but not limited to: o Developing dynamic, constructive working relationships and partnerships with operational and clinical partners. o Excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, listening and communication skills) characterized by effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external constituents, stakeholders and audiences. o Relationship driven, consultative, a team player, able to effectively lead process improvement initiatives. o Possesses a good understanding of Business Intelligence tools, technology platform, and related systems to handle queries about clinical and business data/analytical solutions. o Be adept at presenting technical materials to a non-technical audiences, applying human factors principles and user centered design principles, understanding user workflows, applying statistical methods latforms such as Qlikview and Tableauâ¢Pref Expertise in data science, including machine learning approaches to produce predictive models;â¢Pref Proficiency in statistical approaches;â¢Pref Master level expertise in data visualization platforms such as Qlikview and TableauRequired License/Certification:â¢Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)The hourly rate range for this position is $68,640.00 - $112,370.00.
