The VP/CFO is accountable for aligning finance operations across UCSF Medical Center line of business finance teams and reporting on key metrics driving service line P&Ls. Regularly coordinates Adult Services, Cancer Services, and Langley Porter financials to reconcile budgets and monitor achievement of finance targets by service line. Partners with service lines on their respective Ten Year financial plans and consolidates into a unified long term financial plan for UCSF Medical Center. Serves as a senior advisor to President UCSF Medical Center/Adult Services, providing financial information for decision-making with a focus on cost management, revenue enhancement, and benchmarking comparisons. responsible for all aspects of UCSF Medical Center accounting and financial reporting including regulatory compliance with accounting standards and practices. The VP/CFO is primarily responsible for the UCSF Medical Center's new hospital financial planning, proforma and financial analyses. This position is responsible for all budgeting and financial forecasting and feasibility studies, long-range financial planning efforts and serves as a liaison with all governmental and non-governmental bodies that affect UCSF Medical Center current and potential financial situation. The VP/CFO monitors reimbursement of new therapies and high cost drugs, impact of 340b program changes and evaluates opportunities to optimize programs such as specialty pharmacy for UCSF Medical Center.
The VP/CFO ensures a high level of financial coordination between the UCSF Health Leadership, School of Medicine, Dean's Office, Faculty Practice and UCSF Medical Center and broader Health System including Benioff Children's Oakland and other affiliates. The VP/CFO works closely with Revenue Cycle, Reimbursement Services, and Shared Services and takes responsibility for the accuracy and underlying drivers of financial information and reports. This position presents and interprets financial information on a regular basis to Senior Management, UCSF Health Committees, and Governance Boards.
Responsibilities of the VP/CFO span the enterprise and require constructive relationships with all UCSF leadership, affiliate partners and outside agencies. This is a senior leadership position that requires a proven background leading healthcare finance and accounting functions, with a strong understanding of hospital operations. Expected to successfully interact, negotiate and build UCSFH relationships, programs and partnerships with an extremely high degree of autonomy. Recognized as an influential leader that strategically manages change through business planning and program execution to achieve broad initiatives.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
