Position Description:
The UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) is a highly-specialized, interdisciplinary team of environmental, health, safety, emergency preparedness & fire response professionals providing risk, safety, and emergency response services to the campus community at UCLA. EH&S is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Safety Engineer.
Under the general direction of the Occupational Safety Programs Manager within UCLA's Environment Health and Safety department, the Safety Engineer will ensure that campus policies and federal/state regulations are followed to achieve a safe work environment for staff, faculty, and students.
The incumbent will lead the Construction & Contractor Safety Program across campus and manage written safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. The incumbent will provide technical expertise to project managers, departmental leadership, and contractors by reviewing construction project plans, conducting risk assessments, developing & delivering trainings, and performing site safety walkthroughs related to fall protection systems, lifting devices, trenching & excavations, confined spaces, electrical, and other safety requirements associated with Construction and General Industry Safety Orders (GISO) as found in Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations.
The incumbent will also analyze data to identify areas for improvement, participate in Serious Injury Reporting duties, and support EH&S strategic planning goals by collaborating with other EH&S staff to facilitate the delivery of service to the campus community.
Special Instructions:
The target salary range for this position is between the posted minimum and $10,191.67 monthly.
