Dance Production Manager
The University of Southern California is seeking applicants for a full-time Dance Production Manager for the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Working in multiple venues and in cooperation with staff, faculty, and students, the Dance Production Manager plans, budgets and oversees all aspects of the USC Kaufman production season inclusive of 15-20 distinct shows of varying levels of complexity. Under the supervision of the Head of Operations & Technology, the Dance Production Manager will serve as the technical and production lead and representative to all USC internal and external stakeholders, rental clients, and venues supervisors/liaisons. Successful candidates should demonstrate success in the execution of theater and/or Dance Productions and have expert understanding of technical requirements for dance performances, showings, productions, and special events, including local, national and international productions. The ideal candidate is conversant with the artistic and technical aspects of dance and will possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in written form.
Primary responsibilities include:
⢠ Designs, plans, and oversees all aspects of USC Kaufman Dance Productions. Coordinates the construction of all costumes, props, sets, video, audio and lighting for productions with USC Kaufman. Oversees all house management and coordinates box office operations with fellow staff.
⢠ Create contracts for guest artists, choreographers, and stagers in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Programming and Special Projects.
⢠ License existing repertory with artist representation. License music for performances and manages legal compliance for all licenses and artistic contracts in tandem with Kaufman and University offices.
⢠ Facilitates all production-related meetings with other USC Kaufman department leads, faculty and guest artists to coordinate programming activities. Resolves issues/conflicts and exchanges information to assure the smooth execution of all USC Kaufman artistic programming. Collaborates in the development and monitoring of short- and long-range plans for the delivery of production-related programming.
⢠ Outlines fiscal parameters and budgets for productions.  Authorizes expenditures and monitors accounts to ensure compliance with fiscal guidelines and regulations. Directs ongoing purchasing activities including authorization of one-time major purchases. Prepares and/or directs the preparation of financial reports, as required.
⢠ Oversees installation, repairs, maintenance, and modifications of specialized and state of the art theatrical equipment.  Provides technical advice and recommends purchase of equipment and accessories. Controls equipment and supplies inventory. Negotiates prices and orders for equipment and supplies. Maintains vendor contracts and backup purchase documentation files for reference and reporting, as needed.
⢠ Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff and student employees. Interviews, selects, and trains staff of technical production professionals. Supervises all aspects of job training and performance. Manages and distributes rotating schedules and deploys staff and/or student workers in support of Kaufman productions.
⢠ Develops and implements operating policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with security and safety standards. Ensures proper training and safe usage of all equipment and other materials and ensures compliance with safety procedures as outlined by University, State and Federal safety regulations.
⢠ Attends department/all school meetings, as required.
⢠ Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends for USC Kaufman productions and rehearsals as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelorâs degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

Specialized, progressively responsible experience in applicable performing or visual arts. Expert knowledge directly with dance productions in a university context. Ability to supervise employees, resource workers and/or student workers.
The annual base salary for this position is $79,313 annual depending on experience.
