Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Projects and Construction for Facilities Services, the Senior Planner/Estimator/Scheduler performs responsible and complex administrative coordination of the Facilities maintenance workforce. These duties include but are not limited to: scheduling of maintenance and renovation projects, scheduling and forecasting of workloads and assignments for maintenance staff, tracking and evaluation of metrics related to both maintenance and project work, preventive maintenance program inputs, along with analysis and recommendations for the work management activities of Facilities Operations.
The Senior Planner/Estimator/Scheduler develops and provides reports and analysis of maintenance and renovation project activities and oversees the processes of maintenance and project related communications with campus community including clients, colleges and departments, unions, and facilities management staff.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
SDSU Facilities Services is a customer service-based organization providing facility maintenance activities through a transparent and deliberate process. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, renovation, remodel, and alteration activities in support of the academic and research mission of the university. Facilities Services employs over 250 employees (full time and students) and supports approximately eight million square feet of buildings (including residence halls and parking structures) and 280 acres of improved and unimproved land.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college in engineering, architecture, business management, plant management, industrial technology or public administration. Up to four years of applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Three years experience in a staff or supervisory capacity in plant operations administration or the construction industry, including experience in design, plan analysis and estimating for multiple trade projects.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Valid California Driver's License or have the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience of construction and facilities management.
- Three years of experience as a commercial construction estimator for multiple trades is preferred.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and RS Means.
- Knowledge of the time required for performing various segments of construction and maintenance work is necessary in order to properly schedule work.
- Thorough knowledge of the building codes and trades is also required to enable the incumbent to write complete and concise specifications to accompany plans for contract jobs.
- A general knowledge of State contract procedures is desired.
- Ability to read, interpret, and prepare plans and specifications for all phases of construction and building maintenance.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $7,991 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,417 - $7,991 per month.
