Who We Are:

We are the Facilities Automation Center (FAC).

The FAC provides the high tech automation and monitoring tools that enables Stanford to building and operate the most advanced teaching and research facilities in the world. The FAC serves many customers across campus, including building managers, laboratory managers, and some of the best HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical professionals in the industry - if we don't succeed, they don't succeed, and that won't happen here.

What We Do:

Modern building automation systems are built upon common IT hardware and networking platforms. The FAC ensures these platforms are highly reliable, secure, and scalable to meet the growing demands of our "smart" campus.

We work with servers, clusters, switches, gateways, databases, end point devices, user interfaces, authentication software, and many more IT industry components.

The FAC team members are also masters with proprietary third party software used to create sequence of operation controls logic to operate the many individual processes within Stanford's buildings.

The FAC develops control system logic programs for maintenance and upgrade projects as well as provides subject matter expert oversight for large new construction and retrofit projects being implemented by contractors.

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
3 or more year's applicable experience administering IT systems including configuring and maintaining networks, servers, and user accounts. Relevant educational credentials may substitute for years of experience.
Experience with computer PC architecture, basic computer math and conventions, and basic PC troubleshooting. CompTIA A+ certification (or equivalent), or ability to acquire within one year of start.
Knowledge of general network topics, such as TCP/IP protocol and OSI model. CompTIA Network+, CCENT, or equivalent certification, or ability to acquire within one year of start.
Tridium Niagara N4 Certification, or ability to acquire within one year of start
Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems drawings
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Good oral and written communication skills. To be demonstrated through sample work and/or professional references.
Good customer relations skills. To be demonstrated through professional references.
Experience operating and maintaining modern building Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems is a plus
Knowledge of commercial building HVAC processes and systems is a plus

Your Primary Responsibilities:

Let's talk about the specific tasks a Control System Administrator Trainee performs.

Monitor performance of computerized components and communication networks to ensure uptime and reliability of control systems
Perform controls system software upgrades and patches
Confirm all communications networks are installed and configured properly between the room level Local Control Units, the Building Level Controllers (i.e. JACEs), and the Building Control System Server
Create sequence of operation logic program files using control system software
Create user interface graphics program files using control system software
Support troubleshooting of building process systems, including but not limited to HVAC and lighting, by working with other operations departments to efficiently identify and resolve source of problems
Observe and support functional performance tests for construction projects
Maintain building control system documentation to ensure accurate as-built information, up to date sequence of operations (SOOs), and easy to reference set points and schedules
Configure and tune controls analytics tools (i.e. FDD) to match needs of specific processes and buildings
Attend required training classes and satisfy requirements for completion certification
Achieve proficiency in areas and at dates specified in your Training Plan
