Position Summary:
At the heart of University of California, Irvine's academic community, the UCI Libraries plays a vital role in enabling our outstanding students, faculty, and researchers to create new knowledge, develop lifelong learning skills, and make meaningful contributions to society. The Training and Organizational Development Officer is a member of the Libraries' Human Resources Department and reports to the Director of Library Human Resources and the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Administrative Services. Uses advanced professional HR concepts to provide guidance to all levels within the organization, utilizing specialized human resources expertise within the area relating to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) The incumbent is responsible for supporting an inclusive and positive organizational culture, assessing library-wide training and organizational development needs, and proactively developing strategies and programs to strengthen employee's skills, knowledge, capacity for career progression, and sense of community. Normally receives little direction on assignments. Independently uses skills as an experienced HR professional with a full understanding of organizational consulting practices within the Library to resolve a wide variety of organizational consulting issues and situations. This position will develop strategies and oversee library initiatives to incorporate the Libraries' mission and values relating to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) into library-wide training and organizational development needs. May serve in a lead capacity, providing guidance to other human resources professionals. The Training and Organizational Development Officer will partner with other HR colleagues to promote and support the incorporation of DEIA into employee training, performance management, recruitment, and engagement. Develops strategies to maintain and continually enhance employee programs including mentorship, new employee orientation, internships, and recognition programs. Maintains awareness of current trends relating to DEIA and HR best practices. Working collaboratively with HR colleagues, library leadership, and managers, the incumbent will identify, prioritize, and implement organizational development projects relating to DEIA. Is proficient in identification and resolution of moderate to complex organizational issues. Works on strategic organizational consulting issues that are diverse in scope, where analysis of situations requires evaluation of various factors. Normally receives little instruction on planning, researching, and resolving organizational effectiveness issues, with general instructions and guidance provided on new assignments and / or more unique situations including strategic planning. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Required:
A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the field Organizational Development or 4 years of related experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Possesses advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization. Advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources. In-depth knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems. Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information. Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated active listening and critical thinking skills. Strong analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Has thorough knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, and models to assess, design, and implement customized organizational interventions Ability to coach, facilitate, and influence people. Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus. Skill to develop teams within the Libraries to deliver internal programs, working effectively to achieve a common goal, and providing respectful but constructive feedback to help improve program delivery. Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to effectively accomplish objectives with sensitivity and diplomacy, and to resolve conflict with a professional demeanor and using sound judgment. Preferred:
Knowledge of University of California and UCI Libraries policies and procedures. Relevant experience in a higher education organization, preferably in an academic or research library.
