Facilities Project Supervisor 2 (FAC PROJECT SUPV 2 HC)
Job Summary
This position manages the major initiatives/ capital furniture team of UCDH and is responsible for all aspects relating to the furniture assets of the University. The incumbent has independent oversight of a furniture capital budget more than $5M and is responsible for the allocation and prioritization of all furniture expenditures. The position has planning duties including the analysis and review of building space and furniture needs, allocations development, costs, and installation. This position carries significant responsibility for management and logistics of all moves and furniture installations associated with capital construction projects. This position supervises the furniture team, managing workload and overseeing work performed by the project management and administrative team, provides training, evaluates performance, and implements correction action as needed.
The incumbent is responsible for coordination of the planning and programming phases of construction projects for both new construction and tenant improvements; provides technical information and advice on building space needs, utilization, and standards; acts as furniture programming liaison; prepares and/ or reviews documentation supporting annual major and minor capital furnishings programs; and recommends new or revised furniture.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in project management, facility design, interior design, architecture, facility planning, or related fields.
- Leadership experience in capital planning, project management, space management, budgeting, organization, and problem solving.
- Experience creating a positive team environment with a strong customer service focus.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, group facilitation, and coordination.
- Experience using basic software tools, such as MS Excel or Project to create and management budgets and schedules.
- Experience successfully managing facility projects including direct responsibility for the leadership of the project team and development and management of the overall project budget and schedule.
- Experience in developing long- and short-term goals for resource planning, to analyze and evaluate programmatic needs, identify secondary effects, and recommend changes for effective administrative operation
- Proficient in reading, reviewing, and interpreting architectural plans and furniture assembly/ component installation plans.
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with senior management and lead and direct subordinates.
- Organizational skills to organize, plan, coordinate, and set priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated expert communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with a variety of internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional Certification, Certified Interior Designer, National Council for Interior Design Qualification, or equivalent certification or advanced degree
- Valid Driver's License and Good Driving Record as incumbent must travel to the UCD/UCDH facilities and vendor locations on department/personnel business.
- Experience managing, planning or specifying systems furnishings.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff in a leadership role including recruitment, training, work assignment, setting expectations, evaluating performance, developing self-improvement and performance, and initiating reward or corrective action as required.
- Experience overseeing large vendor contracts within a government or public agency setting.
- Experience developing and overseeing space, furniture and/ or facility standards within a large organization.
Department Description
The Facilities Planning & Development Division's mission is the implementation of the Health System's Capital Improvement Program in keeping with the Long-Range Development Plan (LRDP). This includes the authority and responsibility to manage acute care capital improvement planning, design, and construction projects. This position has the primary responsibility for implementing and achieving the department purpose.
