Job Summary
The Cyberinfrastructure and Data Management Officer (CDMO) will be responsible for developing and maintaining the database, data systems, and website interface across a diverse array of research activities for the newly formed NSF Center for Pandemic Insights. This position will work closely with leads across the Center to ensure data acquisition and data handling strategies are developed and implemented in concert with development of new research activities, innovative technology, and data processing pipelines. This role is critical to ensuring data are analyzed and shared securely and fluidly, establishing a dynamic and up-to-date website with innovative data visualization, and developing and maintaining publicly available resources through open-access platforms.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering, biological sciences, or related field, and/or equivalent experience with practical implementation of data systems management and coding.
At least 3 years of experience managing complex data in research settings, such as for multidisciplinary health or science programs.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop and manage relational databases and data storage systems for complex research data that will interact across project activities and contribute to multiple outputs, including websites for data sharing. This includes competency in multiple coding languages, as suitable to constructing front end and back-end data infrastructure, as would be utilized for full stack development.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse individuals of varying technical levels.
Time management, project management, and organizational skills to successfully prioritize and complete workload and activities.
Proficient with business software and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Familiarity with standard best practices for database environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with local and cloud computing resources, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
Understanding of data types and formats typically utilized in life science and public health fields from field data collection to management.
Written and oral communication skills to compose detailed, grammatically correct, technical reports, correspondence, and websites for researchers, PIs, funders, and collaborators.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of big data technologies and common data security frameworks and relevant legal/regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, data sharing requirements for federal awards).

Department Overview
The Cyberinfrastructure and Data Management Officer for the NSF Center will work with investigators across multiple UC Davis Colleges and Departments and institutional partners to advance Center activities. This position will be based at UC Davis, working in parallel and frequently involving synergies with programs and projects at the EpiCenter for Disease Dynamics, One Health Institute (OHI), and the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM). The OHI is a large enterprise, consisting of more than 60 faculty, staff and students working globally across dozens of centers, programs and projects. Each of these organizational units and the individuals who comprise them full ll the mission of the OHI as they are all working to solve complex problems at the interface of animals, people, and the environment impacting health and conservation.

Salary or Pay Range: $82,900/yr. - $152,900/yr. (Dept. budgeted range: $82,900/yr. - $118,000/yr. Commensurate with experience)
