Lab Tech perform or supervise the performance of standardized and recurring technical procedures in art in the Sculpture Lab; perform a variety of business operations related to management of a Sculpture Lab; and perform other related duties as required. Lab Tech work under the supervision of Sculpture Supervisor. Assignments may require specialized knowledge in art and sculpture fabrication. Lab Tech typically perform duties ranging in level from unskilled to skilled. Lab Tech duties include participation in the construction, assembly, testing and/or operation of Sculpture Lab equipment and tools; preparation of art materials for classes; receiving and distributing Sculpture Lab supplies; cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, supplies and facility; and the maintenance of safety procedures in the Sculpture Lab. Lab Tech may assist faculty, teaching assistants and students in their use of Sculpture Lab equipment and supplies. Technical assignments at this level typically require professional knowledge and skills which might be expected from incumbents at the college "upper division" level or from incumbents who have acquired equivalent knowledge and skills through experience.
Salary & Compensation

1-2 years Working in an art laboratory, art studio, or woodshop. (Required) And
1-2 years Experience in using and training others in the safe use of power and hand tools, and shop safety culture. (Required) And
1-2 years Experience in design and fabrication techniques to fabricate sculpture with wood. (Required) And
1-2 years Experience in design and fabrication techniques to fabricate sculpture with metal. (Preferred)
1-2 years Experience in design and fabrication techniques to fabricate sculpture with mold making and casting. (Preferred)
1-2 years Experience in design and fabrication techniques to fabricate sculpture with digital equipment such as CNC Router, 3D Printers, Cricut Cutter. (Preferred)
Ability to advise on design and fabrication of sculpture with wood. (Required)
Ability to work with tools, equipment, machinery, and materials while adhering to safety standards. (Required)
Able to align with UCLA's Principles of Community and observe University policies, working as a respectful team player. Collaborates constructively, interacting calmly and diplomatically with diverse individuals and students to build and maintain effective relationships. (Preferred)
Ability to safely use and instruct a variety of power tool and hand tools, and safety culture. (Required)
