Sutter California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) is an academic, tertiary and quaternary hospital system in San Francisco with four campuses, including three acute care hospitals, a research institute, robust outpatient services, and three joint ventures. POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) will be accountable for driving strategic growth and operational excellence across the system while aligning strategies with Sutter Health’s overarching goals. The CEO fosters seamless collaboration among medical staff, nursing, and clinical support services to ensure exceptional patient care and service quality. The CPMC CEO will ensure the delivery of high quality, cost-effective services to the community while advancing the future vision of Sutter Health.
Reporting directly to the Division President and working in close partnership with the CPMC Chief Medical Executive, the CEO will cultivate a dynamic organizational culture that celebrates innovation, teamwork and accountability. The CEO promotes productive collaboration among senior team members, departments, and all levels of management, setting a tone that inspires excellence in every aspect of care and service delivery.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration at the chief executive, president or chief operating officer or in a comparably senior role, preferably in a multi-hospital or multi-site setting.
Experience developing business and strategic plans to facilitate growth and in leading the development or growth of clinical programs as well as other business development efforts.
External relations experience serving as a representative of an organization in the community and industry, as well as with donors.
A track record of success leading cost improvement initiatives.
Experience with facilities planning, design and construction.
Experience using performance improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or related approaches.
Experience leading staff represented by organized labor unions is preferred.
Bachelor's degree required in healthcare administration, business or a related field. A master's degree in these fields or a related advanced degree is preferred.
