Knowledge of:
- Public facilities; engineering and architecture; facilities planning and maintenance standards.
- Design and construction services and procedures.
- Applicable codes, laws, regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Computer programs, including project management, estimating software, computer assisted drafting and design, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
- Basic accounting, payroll and purchasing procedures; the structure and various formats of business correspondence.
- Principles of project management
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with the public, students, faculty and staff; exercise initiative and judgment.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees, and others encountered in the course of work.
- Manage schedules and timelines.
- Work as a member of a team and meet schedules and timelines.
- Design, plan, draw, direct, oversee and manage multiple complex projects.
- Evaluate and effectively resolve unforeseen construction problems.
- Analyze situations and adapt an effective course of action, which could include working outside of normal working hours to monitor projects to coordinate specific elements of work with contractors or Facilities Maintenance.
- Establish and maintain an effective data management, storage, and retrieval system.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff as demonstrated by skills and abilities in cultural responsiveness and cultural humility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field; OR any combination of experience and college level course work that total eight years in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
Experience:
Four years combined experience in construction management, construction supervision, facilities planning, engineering, architecture or related field, including at least two (2) years as a lead or supervisor. (One year of experience is equal to 12 months of full-time employment. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement.)
