Job Summary
The Chen lab seeks a scientist to setup the FIB-SEM microscope and train new users.
Essential Job Duties
Setup and maintain the FIB-SEM microscope.
Collaborates with Principal Investigator(s) to determine direction of research and/or project.
Train new users, including other staff members, students, and postdoctoral scholars.
Develop workflow for cryoET data processing while working on specific biological projects. Examples include flagella and plant cell walls.
Design, fabricate/construct test instrumentation and/or apparatus required for special research projects.
Coordinate the ordering, processing, restocking of lab supplies, equipment, animals and maintain general organization of lab.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment and/or instruments, and/or schedule external engineer repair of the instrument.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. degree
6 years of relevant scientific research and experience with cryoEM.
Must have prior experience in cryoEM for sample preparation, data collection and data processing.
Must be diligent and responsible for their own work.
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, working with faculty, postdocs, students, and research staff.
