Responsibilities
The Assistant Director oversees daily operations of the Electrical and Carpentry Shops, managing construction, remodeling, and repair projects campus-wide. Responsibilities include coordinating workforce activities, liaising with contractors, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with University policies and procedural standards.
Performs administrative oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the Electrical Shop and the Carpentry Shop.
Administers supervision and oversight of a work force of approximately 25 bargaining unit staff and may include student assistants.
Coordinates and directs the work of others from various shops on construction/repair projects.
Assures project timeline schedules and completion dates.
Meets routinely with Facilities Planning, Design & Construction, contractors and others to ensure projects meet schedule, budget and campus standards.

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

Proven ability to manage and coordinate skilled trades personnel effectively.
Expertise in construction project management and adherence to timelines.
Strong budgeting skills and ability to manage project finances.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
Competence in interpreting building plans and specifications accurately.
Ability to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $110,000 - $122,100 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
