As a Regional Director of Golf Course Maintenance, you would oversee turf management, landscaping, and maintenance operations for multiple golf courses. Key responsibilities include strategic planning for agronomic programs, managing maintenance budgets and staff, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and improving course quality to enhance player experience. Key Responsibilities
Agronomic Strategy & Quality:Assist in Development and ensure implementation of agronomic programs for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs to ensure peak playability and aesthetics. Programs based on IPM and environmentally sustainable practices are key business drivers.
Budget & Financial Control:Preparation, review, monitoring, and management of annual operating budgets, capital expenses, equipment purchases, and inventory control. Development of short and long term capital plans, and the communication of these financial aspects to course ownership.
Personnel Management:Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Golf Course Superintendents and assist in development and accountability of maintenance personnel.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety:Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA), particularly regarding chemical application.
Resource Management:Oversee water usages, irrigation system maintenance audits, and strategic planning for the future of resources.
Project Management:Plan and execute course renovations, construction projects, and equipment upgrades, and all necessary requirements of contractors.
Qualifications
Education:Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field, or combination of relevant experience.
Experience:Minimum 5-10 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with several years in a supervisory role (Superintendent level or higher).
Technical Skills:Deep knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, equipment maintenance, environmental regulations, cool and warm season turf, and poor water quality.
Leadership:Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to manage large teams and communicate with ownership/stakeholders.
