Date: Several appointments are made each year. The number of courses assigned for each appointment may vary depending on type of course and percentage of appointment.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach one or more undergraduate studio and/or lecture courses in the Landscape Architecture and/or Sustainable Environmental Design majors. Teaching may also involve field trips, exhibitions, special projects and guest speakers. Candidates may be offered one to four courses for the year depending on programmatic need and candidate's availability.
General Information: The Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design Program in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of California, Davis, offers approximately 35 courses annually. The Landscape Architecture program includes approximately 72 undergraduate upper-division Landscape Architecture (LDA) majors who are admitted via a highly competitive review process and another 60 undergraduate Pre-Landscape Architecture majors. Additionally there are 135 Sustainable Environmental Design (SED) majors.
Nine individuals who comprise the permanent faculty teach 70% of the undergraduate courses. Lecturers teach 30% of the courses. Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions that require their professional as well as academic expertise. In any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary according to permanent faculty teaching assignments. Positions may be full-time or part-time, depending on schedules and expertise.

The professional Landscape Architecture major is highly regarded nationwide and the newer Sustainable Environmental Design major has grown quickly and attracts strong students. The City of Davis is a progressive college town of about 69,000 and is recognized as a leader in ecological sustainability. It is located in the Sacramento valley 72 miles northeast of San Francisco and 15 miles from Sacramento, California's capital.
Salary and Appointment Level: Commensurate with experience and course assignment.

Applicants internal to the UC Davis Department of Human Ecology who had an appointment in 2021-2022 and apply by the 'Initial Review Date' of 5/31/2022 will be considered prior to all other applicants.
