Position Information:The Director for Undocumented Student Programs is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and assessing programs designed to support the academic wellness and campus integration of undocumented students. The Director manages a varied and complex set of co-curricular services and programs intended to advance knowledge of and awareness about UCR's diverse undocumented community and will develop new programming that will address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The incumbent works independently to analyze and/or assess the unit needs; make recommendations for changes and improvements; independently implement recommended changes; and establish operational, programmatic unit policy and procedures. Serves as a subject matter expert pertaining to AB 130,131,540, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and federal immigration law and policy. This position will supervise the program coordinator and ensure that there is quality programming and collaborative partnerships across campus and the surrounding community. The Director advocates for the well-being of students, with a specific focus on undocumented students. The Director will be highly visible on campus as the subject matter expert to students, staff, and faculty. This position regularly advises campus management and student groups on a wide range of issues for undocumented student populations including academic achievement, high-impact student services, campus climate issues, and the complex and rapidly changing immigration political landscape impacting undocumented students.
The salary range for the Director, Undocumented Student Programs is $64,300 - $114,300.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $75,564 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Requirements: Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Minimum Requirements
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Ability to stay informed of the rapidly evolving legal and political immigration landscape. Demonstrated knowledge of the undocumented student issues through programming, resource management or other professional activities. Proven record of success in working with diverse populations including students, staff and community members from a variety of backgrounds. Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, multicultural identity development, leadership development, group dynamics, and management theory and proven ability to apply information in decision making and problem-solving situations. Proven ability in guiding and coaching students in areas of free speech, meeting with senior administrators and staff. Ability to collects, analyze and summarize data. Excellent verbal communication skills both in verbal and written form. Expertise in developing collaborative working relationship with other campus departments with specific attention to Student Affairs programming units and ethnic studies academic departments; knowledge of programs which enhance and integrate the relationship between Academic and Student Affairs. Knowledge in best practices in for undocumented students in: identity and student development, retention, academic achievement, and emerging campus climate issues. Strong working knowledge of free speech issues on college campuses, and ability to support students appropriately as they grapple with issues in this area.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Ability to work with Student Affairs Information Systems to develop appropriate assessment tools and data analysis approaches to bridge assessment and practice. Ensures that there is a robust and collaborative programming model across all Ethnic and Gender Centers to ensure that the complexity of campus climate and equity issues are integrated into programming.
