UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Campus - Major Capital Projects Sr. Project Manager

Position will work in the East Bay with an Oakland office location. This position in a hybrid position with ability to work some days remote. However, the majority of time is expected to be in person in the Oakland office and jobsite anticipated to be a minimum of 3 days a week and responsive to the project needs and demands that will likely require more based on phases on the project and construction activities.

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Campus Modernization, the Sr. Project Manager will support and manage multiple projects and scopes in support of the Campus Modernization and New Hospital Building (NHB) projects from initial planning, design, construction, through activation. The Campus Modernization project in Oakland is an approximately $1.5B program to modernize the UCSF Oakland Children's campus. It includes a New Hospital Building (NHB), Administrative Support Building (ASB), redevelopment of the inpatient campus site and multiple enabling projects. The work requires engagement with multiple agencies for coordination and approval including but not limited to: OSHPD, CDPH the City of Oakland, PG&E, Caltrans, UCSF Building Permit Services, Alameda County Flood Control District, and East Bay Municipal Utility District.

The Sr. Project Manager develops efficient strategies for organizing, assigning, tracking, analyzing and following projects across multiple streams of work; documents the scope of each project; manages resources to meet established deadlines or escalates in a timely fashion; possesses excellent leadership and organizational skills; pays attention to details, understands the needs of stakeholders/constituents, is knowledgeable about Lean methodologies, and keeps abreast of hospital policies and procedures. The Sr. Project Manager, manages competing priorities and conflicts for limited resources with minimum supervision, understands new technologies and concepts, and is able to apply them nimbly and appropriately to current and planned projects.

The Sr. Project Manager establishes a strong working relationship with the stakeholder work groups to clearly understand their requirements and works with constituents to design optimum solutions keeping in mind current technology, future trends and resource constraints. The Sr. Project Manager will need to do all of this for the specific scopes of work and projects that they are directly responsible for managing while also tracking those against the needs of the overall NHB project and Campus Modernization effort. This is critical to ensure that decisions are made at the appropriate time to support the overall project objectives including adherence to the project budget and schedule.

The Sr. Project Manager needs to have experience and ability to navigate and manage technical scopes of work and experience with the agencies having jurisdiction and the requirements that the project needs to meet. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, able to work in a collaborative big room environment, strong change management and organizational skills, able to appropriately prioritize and escalate issues to the broader team when impacts to budget, scope, sequencing and schedule are identified.

Candidates with technical experience and backgrounds, particularly from the architectural and engineering fields strongly preferred.

Skills

• Develop and maintain project schedules, resources, and budgets.
• Maintain project schedule and budget projections for monthly cash flow reports.
• Develop, execute, and monitor vendor contracts.
• Manage project risks associated with schedule, scope and budget.
• Review and approve invoices, including pay applications for accuracy, alignment with contract terms and completeness.
• Develop, monitoring and completion of project closeout strategy.
• Able to work in a dynamic big room environment. Able to adapt flexibly to support the overall project while directly managing their scopes of work.

• Implement LEAN processes to ensure reliability in projects.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with affiliate representatives, management, and other departments within UCSF.
• Ensure their teams maintain a culture of collaboration, accountability, transparency, trust, respect and integrity.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $225,900 (Annual Rate).
