Position Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Housing & Hospitality Service Physical Plant and Project Management, the Architectural Design Manager will have management responsibility for planning, staffing, organizing, supervising, and controlling all internal design services provided by Housing Project Management. Provide oversight and guidance to staff professionals for planning, renovation and new construction projects and evaluate their performance; frequent review of and travel to work sites using a university vehicle, requiring ability to climb ladders, walk and work in various rough graded sites, and lifting/lowering of weighted objects. Serve as the executive architect who has professional signatory authority on all construction documents developed by staff professionals.
Develop business services model and best practices for internal architectural services including computer aided drafting (CAD) protocols, design standards, construction document formatting, and work monitoring/control systems.
Serve as the department's liaison with governing agencies including Fire Marshal, Environment Health and Safety, Campus Architect, Campus Building Official and other Planning and Design personnel at Capital Programs.
Works independently, but meets regularly with Senior Director to ensure overall department goals and objectives are being met.
Special Instructions:
The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is the posted minimum to $13,750 monthly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
