Job Summary
The applicant's work will be focused on the development of tools towards the delivery and construction of components required to build synthetic genomes, and their respective applications, and will ongoingly discuss and collaborate with the Principal Investigator to determine research and project directions within sub workgroups in the workplace.
Essential Job Duties
Lead and independently solve key problems within the field of Synthetic Biology and Genome Engineering, providing pivotal support to ongoing projects within the research group. Specifically, the applicant will be independently posing research problems, designing and developing innovative genome engineering tool suites and methodologies. The applicant will oversee analyzing and interpreting resulting data from their work and that of junior colleagues. (75%)
Provide ongoing leadership, support and input to junior colleagues and ongoing research projects. (25%)
Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry or analogous fields is required to carry out the work for this position.
The candidate must have at least 6 years of dedicated research experience performing tasks such as molecular cloning, molecular diagnostics, bioinformatics, and genome engineering in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, such as bacteria, yeast, and human cell lines.
The applicant must be able to design, construct, and design both experimental and computational tool suites to realize tasks that are required to fulfil the position described herein.
The applicant is required to act independently on technical matters and must showcase awareness of emerging scientific and engineering trends within the field of Synthetic Biology and Genome Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of postdoctoral experience is preferred. Preferred experience leading genome engineering projects. Experience in providing ongoing leadership, support and input to junior colleagues and ongoing research projects.
