What will you be doing:
The Facilities Planning, Design & Construction (FPD&C) Senior Interior Designer will manage all projects requiring interior design services on a prioritized basis under the direction of the Interior Design Manager, and input from Space Planners, Architects, and Project Managers. Projects may range from interior assessments to large capital projects. In the course of providing these services, the Senior Interior Designer will manage the interior design portion of the project from conception to completion, develop subsequent Construction-in-Progress applications; oversee procurement or movement of furnishings; track schedule, budget, and quality. The Senior Interior Designer will work in close coordination with the entire Project Delivery Team, including FPD&C architects, medical planners, project managers, signage and wayfinding, project coordinators, finance, and other CSHS stakeholders. The Senior Interior Designer will also work closely with and guide external consultants, architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
Develops and maintains interior design standards that set the quality of the spaces where Cedars-Sinai (CS) works and delivers care. Ensures that the interior spaces are in alignment with the level of quality set for the project.
Responsible for leading medium to large-scale projects and supporting mega -scale projects from conception to completion.
Prepares A&E and GC Request for Proposal (RFP) for consultants and contractors. Evaluates proposals and recommend design team members.
Mentors interior designers and provide guidance and oversight as needed.
Initiates Project Start-up that defines the scope, budget, schedule, and quality including project parameters, project approach, and identifying potential risks and issues.
Evaluates client/customer and associated space requirements and make appropriate design recommendations as needed.
Develops interior design recommendations including proposed color and material scheme, furniture layout, furniture selection, and scope of work for review and approval.
Creates Design Documentation for non-permitted and permitted projects including floor plans, elevations, section details, material specifications, equipment plans, furniture plans, and furniture specifications.
Provides input in the development of move plans, phasing, and space activation based on furniture reconfiguration, delivery, and space readiness.
Reviews consultant and vendor?s design recommendation to ensure compliance with campus and system standards.
Fosters collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a cohesive design and seamless transition from design to construction.
Sets end-user expectations and maintain alignment with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality at all times. Evaluate, analyze, and mitigate potential risks.
Works in close collaboration with the furniture vendor and FPD&C team to manage the existing furniture inventory system.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Ten (10) plus years of experience in Commercial workplace and healthcare design projects.
Five (5) plus years of experience in Healthcare Interior Designer or Heathcare Project Management.
Facilities experience is a plus. (ADA, Building Codes, Knowledgeable of OSHPD)
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
Certification for Interior Design (CID), preferred.
National Council of Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ), preferred.
